Michael Aastrup Jensen has been a member of the Danish Parliament for the Liberal Party since 2005.

He is the Liberal Party's spokesperson on foreign affairs and is Vice Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee in the Danish Parliament and the Danish delegation to the Council of Europe.

Michael Aastrup Jensen holds the Danish record as the youngest male ever to be elected mayor at only 25. He was mayor of Randers, the sixth largest city i Danmark, from 2001 - 2006.
